Small Black Lives Matter protest takes place in downtown Beckley

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – A small group of protestors gathered in downtown Beckley this Sunday morning.

The demonstrators held up homemade signs and chanted “No justice, no peace, prosecute the police.”

Cheryl Moore, an activist with the group, says she believes that everyone should stand up and do something to show solidarity with what they believe in, even though this area is so far from the epicenter of the protests.

“We all feel as if we need to do something. It is a very important time in America. We need to show that we are all one people, all one love and nation,” Moore said.

The demonstrators gathered just down the street from the Beckley Police Department and protested peacefully without incident.
