Six Arrested And Facing Multiple Charges After Hunting Without Permission

NICHOLAS COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – During the first week of the deer firearms season, Officers received a complaint in the southern Nicholas County for Hunting without permission and possible spotlighting.

Officers responded to the area and contacted six individuals from Georgia and Florida who had leased several acres to for hunting. They observed multiple fresh deer carcasses laying near Brushy Meadow Creek Road on the leased property, two of which had no meat removed from them. It appeared the individualsĀ had killed multiple deer.

The officers proceeded to a local motel in Summersville where the subjects were staying and conducted interviews with them. It was determined that eleven illegal deer had been taken among the six subjects.

Multiple charges were filed on the individuals including Hunting Closed Season, Failure to Check Game, and Illegal Possession of Wildlife in the Nicholas County Magistrate Court.

Sgt. Duffield and Officers Quinn, McGraw and Fitzwater participated in this investigation.
