Local shelters are partnering with a nationwide pet foundation to boost adoption numbers and open up space.
The Bissell Pet Foundation is funding part of the adoption fees for pets at participating shelters. The maximum fee that new owners would pay for adoption will not be more than fifty dollars, but in some cases, the foundation will cover all of the fees.
The offer runs until Dec. 17 and is funded through donations.
Two local shelters participating are the Greenbrier Humane Society and the Mercer County Animal Shelter.
The Greenbrier Humane Society is open from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
The Mercer County Animal Shelter is open from 12 to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
