Sewing 4 Souls hosts a clothing giveaway this Saturday

BEAVER, WV (WOAY) – This Saturday, the Founder of Sewing 4 Souls is hosting a clothing giveaway for children in the community.

Daphne Jessup started Sewing 4 Souls 9 years ago in her home and now operates from her local church. The non-profit was started to help clothe children in third world countries. Jessup says the pandemic has made it challenging to ship internationally and is offering handmade summer outfits to local children.

“All these international mail is closed for now. The Philippines has opened up, so we’ve gotten our boxes to the Philippines but the other countries I can’t send to. Things are coming in so fast that there is nowhere to store them. So I thought that I would do a community outreach here,” said Jessup.

The clothing drive-thru giveaway will be held at Crow Baptist Church from 10 am to 2 pm. Jessup says she would like to make the giveaway as safe as possible by asking the public to stay in their cars. All children must be present to receive an outfit.

“The boys will get a pair of shorts, a shirt, and underwear. The girls will get a summer dress with little underwear also. We have lots of flip flops that we can pass out, and there will be other goodies to hand to the children,” said Jessup.

Since opening, the organization has clothed over 55 thousand children with summer outfits.

“And the people that make these there do it for special reasons. They do it for the child, and they do it for inner satisfaction and blessing. But we put the gospel on everything,” said Jessup.
