WASHINGTON, D.C. (WOAY) – Although Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R) says she supports Governor Jim Justice’s “Stay at Home” order, she said she was disappointed in how the vote for the stimulus package has played out in the Senate.
The vote was again blocked on Monday by Democrats for the stimulus bill that would provide $2 trillion in COVID-19 aid.
Although Capito’s colleagues, including Senator Joe Manchin, blocked it as they felt it benefited large corporations, Capito says that what it does for corporations is provide a loan program for businesses that employ more than 500.
She says relief is also going to small businesses and hospitals.
“The small business loan program is $350 billion. The hospital and other medical providers: $75 billion. These are significant amounts of money,” she said.
The motion to move forward was also blocked on Sunday night.
