Sen. Capito introduces two amendments to the COVID relief package.

WEST VIRGINIA, WV (WOAY) – Yesterday, Senator Shelley Moore Capito introduced two amendments to the next round of COVID relief insurance.

The first amendment will provide funds for the SAMHSA program to help combat the addiction crisis. The second amendment will provide additional funding for the National Institutes of Health.

“We need to have safe work places, safe schools and we need to have a vaccine developing with therapeutics around that, quick testing and testing availability. So we need to fund that aspect of what we see. The last thing I will say, I’ve been working on is to give our governor the flexibility to use the money that he has presently to help our cities and town who dis-fray some of the loss revenue they suffered during this COVID pandemic,” said Capito.

According to Capito, her proposal is another way to get the funding through since COVID negotiations are stalled.
