Salvation Army Launches Their Annual Holiday Bell-Ringing Campaign

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – As you continue to make your Christmas shopping, you may start to see some familiar faces, as the Salvation Army launches their bell-ringing campaign.

The dinging of the bells is a familiar sound of the season as Black Friday shoppers enter stores.

Nearly 18 volunteers will be coving three counties over the next month. Jerry Lester with the  Salvation Army from Beckley location says this kicks off the season for giving for their operation.

“This is our main time to be able to raise money through our bell ringers. It really helps throughout the rest of the year, if we don’t get it now, then some areas throughout January and February will have a rough time trying to do what we need to do for the community,” said Jerry Lester with the Salvation¬†Army.

If you still want to volunteer, stop by your local Salvation Army headquarters.
