Rough night for truck driver trying to run from state troopers

MERCER CO., WV (WOAY) – State troopers say William Rehm’s got their attention Thursday when they caught him illegally parked at the Beckley Travel Plaza.

Investigators say Rehm, who is from Ohio, refused to give them his drivers license as they tried following up. Then he cranked his big rig and headed off down I-77 towards Mercer County.

Princeton police officers got involved in the chase and dropped stop sticks around mile marker 9.

That flattened the 18-wheeler’s tires and Rehm finally pulled over about two miles down the interstate.

Troopers say he still didn’t want to get out of his cab after he stopped, so they had to drag him out – and at some point they say he got into a scuffle with a Princeton cop.

He was taken to the hospital where he got the lovely head bandage that you see in his mugshot.

Afterwards he was arrested.  He’s sitting in jail tonight with a $50,000 bond.
