BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – The City of Beckley Board of Public Works has closed New River Drive to traffic until further notice.
The closure is due to a roadway collapse from a drainage culvert failure just west of the Beckley Moose Lodge. The Moose Lodge remains accessible via New River Drive from State Route 16- Robert C. Byrd Drive. Busy Bee’s Child Care Center will be accessible via New River Drive from PikeView Drive.
“We’re still on the evaluation stage. We contacted two engineering companies who will conduct an evaluation of the infrastructure and an evaluation of the best way to move toward,” said Beckley Mayor Rob Rappold.
Travelers should use alternate routes during this closure.
The City of Beckley apologizes for the inconvenience while it works with Beckley Sanitary Board on repairs to this roadway.
