BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – Early voting is still going on and not only are you voting on officials, but also amendments.
This morning at word park in Beckley there was a pro-life rally. Lots of people gathered around in support of Amendment 1, which supports funding for abortion if the victim was raped, the mother’s life is at risk, or if the baby has died. We talked with one supporter on how Amendment 1 would impact West Virginia.
“When Amendment 1 passes the impact will be that the law returns to the law prior to the court case in 1993. There will be still Medicaid funded abortions, in cases where the life of the mother is at risk, or if the pregnancy is the result of rape. It wouldn’t cover all abortions, but it will certainly have the impact of saving 15 hundred lives every year,” said Mallory Quigley, Susan B Anthony Spokeswoman.
All voters are encouraged to go out and vote in this year’s election.
