Registered sex offender arrested in Mercer County for alleged sexual abuse of a child

PRINCETON, WV (WOAY) –  A registered sex offender from Mercer County has been arrested for sexual abuse of a child.

According to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department, on April 17, 2020, Jimmy Lawrence, 44, of Princeton and a registered sex offender, was arrested by Mercer County deputies and US Marshal Service Fugitive Task Force.

The arrest is the result of warrants obtained by Detective-Sergeant S. A. Sommers for 1st Degree Sexual Abuse of a child under 12.

This is an ongoing investigation conducted by the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department Criminal Investigation Bureau and the Mercer County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office Crimes Against Children Unit.
