Raleigh County man arrested with possession of marijuana

RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – One man is in jail on drug charges.

On August 5, 20202, the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office responded to a possible Breaking and Entering at the Raleigh Post Office.  Upon arrival, a white male matching the suspect description was found at the back door of the facility, as reported by a witness.

Upon further investigation, it was found the man had met another man at the location to sell him drugs.  The male was identified as Tyler James Pearson.  The other male had fled the scene and was unable to be located.

Pearson was found to have approximately 60 grams of Marijuana individually packaged and ready for sale.  He also had several pills he was also distributing.  The street value of the drugs is estimated to be over 550 dollars.  He was also found to have a large amount of cash on him, which is believed to be the proceeds from the sale of the drugs.

Pearson was arrested for two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver. He was taken to the Southern Regional Jail to await arraignment before Raleigh County Magistrate.

Deputy J. E. Stover is investigating the incident assisted by Deputy R. D. McDaniel and Lt. J. L. Redden.  The WV State Police also responded to assist in the investigation.
