Raleigh County Man Arrested For Threatening To Blow Up VA Medical Center

RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – A Raleigh County man has been arrested for making terroristic threats towards VA Medical Center.

According to court documents, Keith Bailey, 46, of Soak Creek, WV was arrested for threatening to blow up a Veterans Affairs Center.  An officer employed by the Beckley VA Medical Center advised a deputy that Mr. Bailey called the VFW located in Washington, DC and threatened to suicide bomb the closest VA center.

Deputies went to Mr. Bailey’s home and he stated that he did not threaten to bomb anything and he had no intentions to harm himself or others. However, Mr. Bailey did state that he did call the VFW.

Deputies obtained a statement from a woman at the VFW and she wrote that Mr. Bailey did, in fact, call the VFW and was extremely upset.  She also wrote that throughout the phone call Mr. Bailey screamed obscenities and did not allow her an opportunity to talk.  Her statement went on to read that Mr. Bailey did threaten to blow up the closest VA to his location.  The closest VA center to Mr. Bailey is the Beckley Va Medical Center.

Bailey is being held in the Southern Regional Jail under a 50,000 dollar bond.
