Raleigh County Firefighter’s Association puts on parade to thank medical personnel

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – On Friday, the Raleigh County Firefighter’s Association led a parade through Beckley to honor medical personnel on the front lines.

One group went to Beckley-ARH while the others went to Raleigh General Hospital and the Beckley VA Medical Center.

Outside stood the healthcare workers waving back to their fellow front-liners.

Bradley-Prosperity Fire Chief Bobby Palmer, who is also the association’s secretary, says this was a way to stand in solidarity with everyone dealing with this pandemic firsthand.

“We really want to recognize those that are taking the brute force of this pandemic, and this is just a way we can do that,” he said. “We can come together and no matter what agency you’re from, we can come together as one team because that’s ultimately what we are. We’re one team, and we’re here with each other.”

The firefighters also delivered food to all three hospitals prior to the parade.
