Raleigh County Deputies Find Used Needles And Drug Residue Beside Child’s Bed

COAL CITY, WV (WOAY) – A Raleigh County woman is in jail for child neglect after deputies find uncapped needles and drugs next to a child’s bed.

The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department performed a welfare check in Coal City and found that Megan Sizemore, 26, had an open bag containing several used needles and burnt spoons.  Some of the needles were uncapped and contained what appeared to be drug residue in them.

The bag containing these materials were on a dresser next to the child’s bed where she could easily reach the items.  The child told officials that a friend would visit her mom and give theirselves medicine with needles and she sees them stick the needles in their arms.

Deputies advise that if a juvenile is injected with something as small as drug reside the child could overdose and die.  They also note the child had a good possibility of getting stuck with a needle, which could result in overdosing or contacting a disease.

Sizemore is charged with child neglect creating risk or death or serious bodily injury.  She is being held in the Southern Regional Jail under a 5,000 dollar bond.
