WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Cherish the nicer weather today, as most of next week will be damp at best and sloppy at worst. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:
Today will be sunny and breezy, with clouds developing through the night. Cherish the calm days like today, as tomorrow will be yet another soaking wet day. Around .75″ of rainfall is expected across the area, which will cause flooding issues and ponding once again. Turn around, don’t drown! Please be safe if you are commuting around or are affected by flood waters.
Sunday will see mostly cloudy skies after a lingering morning drizzle, making for a damp but decent day to end the weekend. This is good football weather, for those watching this year’s Super Bowl between the Eagles and Chiefs! Monday starts the week off nicely, with partly cloudy skies during the day and clouds developing at night.
Tuesday is the start of the soaking week, as more snow and rain comes through the area. Snow and ice is possible in the Greenbrier and Pocahontas mountains throughout, with the rest of the area seeing snow before a transition to sleet, freezing rain, and rain. Wednesday will be a bit of a break with cloudy skies before Thursday brings yet another rainy day, only exacerbating the flooding issues we have seen this month. With the ground being saturated and consistent rain falling, these conditions are primed for ponding and flooding in vulnerable areas.
