WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): The start of the work week will see some heavier rain through the day after a lull in activity this morning. Thunderstorms are also possible, though the severe weather will start to pop up once again on Tuesday. Several of our counties are under multiple Flood Watches. Fayette, Nicholas, Pocahontas, and Raleigh counties will have a Flood Watch until 10 PM tonight, while Greenbrier, Mercer, Monroe, and Summers counties’ Flood Watch will expire at midnight tonight. Tomorrow shows some potential for severe weather with damaging winds and flooding as the main concerns. The strongest of it will likely happen in the afternoon and evening as we get daytime heating to help convection around the lingering stationary front. The threat for isolated severe storms continues into Wednesday and even Thursday as another cold front blows by the region on the latter. Thankfully, we’ll finally get a break from the wet and stormy weather just in time for the Summer Solstice on Friday. High pressure sweeps in and pushes the front out, leaving us with dry and warm weather. The weekend will also be gorgeous but hot with sunny skies and temperatures nearing or exceeding 90 degrees.
