WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Showers and a few storms will once again bring soaking rain and gusty winds to the region all day long. Thankfully, 2-3″ of rain would be needed within an hour to start flash flooding, giving us plenty of room for beneficial rainfall such as what we’ll see today. Ponding of water in vulnerable areas is the main concern for this low-pressure system, still. However, the start of June is trending to be drier than average, seen in the graphic above. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:
The rain will continue Wednesday as the backend of the low-pressure system moves through the area. Rainfall will be less than today, but will still be moderate with some areas getting upwards of a half-inch. Temperatures will warm up though, with the rest of the week getting back up towards the upper-60s. Here’s a look at the next 48 hours of projected rainfall:

The rest of the work week will see scattered showers, giving us a few brief breaks in-between the rain as well. A thunderstorm or two may develop within these showers as well, especially if the sunshine is more than expected during the breaks of rain. After some morning rain on Saturday, we’ll finally see some drier conditions. Sunday and Monday next week will see drier conditions and warmer temperatures to start off meteorological summer. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:

We’ve been cool over the last few days, but we’ll finally be closer to average as we get to the end of the week. When exactly will we change to warmer temperatures? We’ll start seeing above average temperatures in the beginning of June, specifically the 3rd. We’ll likely reach into the 80s by the middle of next week, giving us a start fitting for the beginning of meteorological summer. Below is the last 2 weeks of departures from normal temperature on the left and the next 10 days of temperature departure from average on the right.
