Good afternoon everyone! Today has brought a welcome break from the gusty winds we experienced yesterday. Conditions are much calmer across the region, with only breezy winds expected through the rest of the day. Winds will continue to ease into the evening, setting us up for a pleasant and comfortable night across southern West Virginia.
Looking ahead, Monday is shaping up to be another decent day, with just a slight chance for a stray sprinkle in a few spots. Most communities should remain dry on Monday. However, a more active weather pattern is on the horizon as we head into midweek.
Tuesday into Wednesday brings the return of rain, and with it, a heightened concern for flooding. A line of potentially strong storms is expected to move through the region late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, and the Weather Prediction Center has already placed our area under a Level 2 out of 4 flash flood risk for Tuesday. This means some storms could bring heavy downpours capable of causing flooding in poor drainage or low-lying areas.
Be sure to stay weather-aware and keep checking back for forecast updates. Now’s a good time to review your flood safety plan if you live in a flood-prone area.
Stay safe and enjoy the calmer weather while it lasts!
