Fayette County, WV (WOAY)—A hearing on the future of a troubled Fayette County Sewer District (PSD) is canceled.
The Public Service Commission of West Virginia (PSC) canceled a May 7 hearing addressing the Armstrong public service district’s failing sewer system and the possibility of transferring operations to another utility.
The decision follows the Fayette County Commission’s move to dissolve the Armstrong, Kanawha Falls, and Page-Kincaid public service districts pending their purchase by West Virginia-American Water Company.
The PSC has paused all proceedings and declined to include the county commission in the current case.
Officials declared Armstrong PSD, which serves more than 800 wastewater customers in Montgomery, distressed by the commission last year.
The move is part of ongoing efforts under West Virginia’s Distressed and Failing Utilities Improvement Act, which aims to address long-term infrastructure issues in struggling utility districts.
