Police in Beckley are warning people of bomb threats.

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – Multiple bomb threats are being reported across the Country where a form of cyber crypto-currency is being demanded. The threats are being conveyed via email; Federal, State, and local authorities are aware of these threats.

Police are now providing a few tips if you do receive one of these emails.

“If you’re gonna call we are going to respond. We are going to take a report.  If they, you know, observe any suspicious activity, suspicious people, suspicious items, clearly, we will handle that and address it. You know case by case basis. But there has not been any indication that there is an actual bomb in any location.  This has been on the line of a way to extort money from people basically,” said Lt. Detective David Allard, Beckley Police Department

Allard has also told us if you are unsure what to do; call your local police department.
