CARROLL Co., Va. (WSET) — Virginia State Police said it’s investigating after a tractor-trailer crashed into a home in Carroll County Friday, January 5, leaving one person dead.
Police said it happened around 10 a.m. in the 6700 block of Carrollton Pike/Route 58.
They said Johnathan Harding, 40, of Jacksonville was driving west on Carrollton Pike when he ran off the right side of the highway and crashed into the home, thankfully the home is vacant, so no one was inside at the time of the crash.
Police said Harding died at the scene.
State police were assisted at the scene by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Galax Fire Department, Carroll County Fire and EMS, and Pipers Gap Rescue Squad.
