Pit bull saves family from fire, carries baby out to safety by diaper

(ABC NEWS)- A California family said their bond with their dog formed right from the start, and that bond paid off when it really counted.

Baby Masailah and Sasha came into this world just days apart, and they instantly connected. Now at 8-months-old that bond is even stronger after the family pup became the family hero.

On Sunday night, Sasha was in the backyard when Masailah’s mother, Latina Chai, noticed she started behaving strangely.

“As soon as I got to the door she runs in, starts barking,” Chai told KCRA.

That’s when she saw a neighbor’s home in flames and was spreading to her own home.
Latana said when she went back inside, she found that Sasha had already made her way into the back bedroom.

“I ran into the room and I see Sasha has my baby like by the diaper, just dragging her off the bed trying to get her to safety,” Chai said.

The family credits those early warning barks and bangs with saving them.

“If she wasn’t barking or really going at the door like that I probably wouldn’t have known nothing,” Chai said. “She’s always been a part of the family, now she just gets steak.”
