GARDNER, WV (WOAY) – PikeView and Westside will represent Region 3 at the Class AA girls basketball state tournament following regional wins at home on Thursday night.
The Lady Panthers used multiple runs in the first half to build momentum against Wyoming East, with a string of baskets right before halftime proving to be key in the 83-51 win. PikeView is the #6 seed in the state tournament, and will play defending champion Fairmont Senior Wednesday morning at 9:30 AM in Charleston.
After three straight losses in regionals, Westside is also returning to states following a 54-40 win against Bluefield. Riana Kenneda led the Lady Renegades with 22 points, while Makayla Morgan had 14 points and Hannah Toler recorded 12; Jaisah Smith scored 22 points for Bluefield. Westside is the #7 seed and will play Winfield at 1:00 PM Wednesday.
