Petting Farm Visits Fayette County

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Kids and parents flocked to Grant’s Supermarket in Oak Hill for a special event on Monday.

The Great American Petting Farm is an event where kids are allowed to feed and learn more about farm animals. The owner, Manuel Lawrence, said his organization drove from Texas to southern West Virginia.

Merrill and Lawrence had a conversation about how long he has been in business and what plans are for the future. “We’ve been doing this tour for over 33 years. What are the kids favorite part of the experience? Just being the animals. They love coming and putting in and interacting with the animals. And do you plan on being here again next year? Absolutely.”

How are the animals kept cool? Lawrence said, “We have misters hooked up and running. We have the shade, and we’ll hook some fans up also to keep the air flowing. So it keeps them nice and cool and comfortable.”

The petting farm closes at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 17.
