Pattern Change Will Yield First Frost of The Season

Oak Hill, WV (WOAY-TV): Today is the warmest of the next seven days thanks to an approaching cold front. A light frost is likely Monday morning behind a front.

Chief Meteorologist Chad Merrill’s forecast:

TONIGHT INTO FRIDAY EVENING (FOR FOOTBALL GAMES): Expect a shower early Friday morning and again in the late afternoon thanks to a cold front approaching the area. Take an umbrella to Friday night football games, but if you don’t have one, you won’t get soaked! Temperatures will reach the upper 60s.

WEEKEND: The cold front will come through just before daybreak Saturday and temperatures will fall all day. Very limited sunshine is expected and a few spits of light rain are likely. By daybreak Sunday, Snowshoe and Davis, W.Va., will see a very very light coating of snow. A few valley spots will see a light frost.

NEXT WEEK: All of us will wake up to a light frost on Monday morning followed by a transition to above average temperatures on Thursday. The next threat for rain and wind is Friday, Oct. 13 followed by an even colder air mass that promises to bring a hard freeze that will end the growing season.
