Parents Notified Of A Possible Threat Planned For Friday At A Local High School

BLUEFIELD (WOAY) – A phone message and an email was sent out to parents at Bluefield High School of a possible threat on Friday, January 26, 2018.

The threat stems from a note found in the girls bathroom.

Parents received the following email:

“An anonymous note indicating a potential threat for Friday, January 26, 2018 was found in a girls’ restroom at Bluefield High School. Mercer County Schools takes all potential threats seriously. In that vein, local law enforcement was contacted and an initial investigation was conducted. After the initial investigation, it has been determined that BHS will operate on a regular schedule tomorrow, January 26, 2018. In conjunction with local law enforcement agencies, Mercer County schools will institute multiple steps in efforts to ensure student safety.”

School officials say, they are taking the necessary precautions to ensure students safety; even though they do not believe the threat is credible.

Extra police will be at the High School Friday.
