Parents as Teachers program offers diaper pantry for families

WHIPPLE, WV (WOAY) – The New River Health Parents as Teachers Program encourages families to take advantage of their weekly diaper pantry.

Parents as Teachers is a free program by New River Health designed to help families with young children. One way of doing that is by providing families in Fayette County with a free diaper pantry. Every Monday they allow diapers to be picked up at their location in Whipple. The program’s director Brenda McClung says they serve dozens of families in the area.

“Our program’s been around at New River as the My Health Program for 30-plus years. We’ve been operating as the Parents as Teachers Program for about a year and a half. We serve around 50 families. One’s that participate in the diaper pantry is probably about 20,” McClung said.

The Parents as Teachers diaper pantry is held every Monday, and they offer many other free services to families as well.
