Over 30 downed trees, power lines in Raleigh County

RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – Dispatchers say they have received over 30 calls about downed trees and power lines throughout Raleigh County.

After heavy wind and rain rolled through the area Saturday evening, dispatchers say some roads are closed due to downed trees and power lines. Some structures were also damaged in the storm.

Around 8 p.m., the National Weather Service says a person reported that a tree fell on their house in Beckley. In Helen, a tree reportedly fell on the Post Office.

Affinity Road in Midway, Old Crow Road in Beaver and DC Lilly Road in Daniels are closed to thru traffic. Dispatchers say fire departments and the Department of Highways are working to clean up the area.
