BECKLEY, WV (WOAY)- Millions of children will be without presents this year for Christmas.
Not unless Samaritans Purse has anything to say about it. Operation Christmas Child is in full effect as shoe boxes are being dropped off all across the nation.
The shoe boxes contain a stuffed animal, a toy, a tooth brush, deodorant, coloring books, and school supplies. These shoe boxes will sent all across the world to children in need of supplies.
We asked one of the volunteers for Operation Christmas Child on how it feels to help out. “Well I’ve been doing this for almost 20 years And each year it’s just what thanksgiving is all about. It’s giving back to children who have nothing and it just gives you that warm fuzzy feeling on a cold wet day” said Debbie Vanaman drop off coordinator for Operation Christmas Child in Beckley.
The goal for Operation Christmas Child this year is raise 11 million shoe boxes and deliver them to children in need. The last day to drop shoe boxes is next Monday, November 19th.
