Opening arguments begin in Natalie Cochran trial

Beckley, WV (WOAY)- Opening arguments began today in the Natalie Cochran trial.

Cochran, a former Beckley pharmacist, is accused of murdering her husband, Michael Cochran.

Both the state and defense addressed the jury, which was selected last night, giving them an idea of what either side will present during the trial.

The state, says that while its evidence is circumstantial, it is convincing.

The state said that Michael Cochran was the picture of health.

The defense argued that was not the case, and he had been in the hospital prior.

The court had to make use of one of its alternate jurors after one of the selected jurors encountered major problems and was not able to participate.

The first witness called today was a lead investigator in Natalie Cochran’s financial crimes charges which she pled guilty to.
