WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): The crew at Winterplace has been hard at work making vast improvements for patrons for the upcoming ski season.
Besides maintaining the grass on the ski slopes this summer, every single snow machine is reviewed for any mechanical malfunction and the chairlifts are reviewed for safety. Below is a list of upgrades/changes to expect this winter at Winterplace.
- More lighting on the ski/snowboard trails.
- 26 new snowmaking machines were added.
- An addition of 4,000 feet of snowmaking pipeline to improve snowmaking efficiency.
- Upgrades in the lodge and website
- Clinics hosted by the ski instructors to help skiers/snowboarders prepare for competition (skiing through gates)
General Manager Josh Faber says they will take advantage of every cold snap in November to make snow and hope to open a few trails as early as December’s first week. The goal is to have the mountain fully open by mid-December.
