One Raleigh County Man Arrested After Leaving His Dog For Weeks To Die

RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – A Raleigh County man has been arrested for leaving his dog in a home for weeks after being evicted.

On February 16, 2018, Police were called to a house on Blue Jay Six Road in Cool Ridge for animal cruelty.  The owner of the house told officers that he had a court order through Raleigh County to evict Joshua Hall and Amy Hall.

When the owner and police entered the home they found  a small brown dog severely under weight and in horrible conditions. The dog had not eaten in days and was near death.

Animal Control was called to get the dog and was taken to the Raleigh County Humane Society to get treatment.

Officers spoke to neighbors and learned that Amy and Joshua had vacated the residence weeks earlier and left the dog behind to die.

They found dog feces all over the house and approximately 80 bags of trash in the house along with soiled baby diapers everywhere.  The dog had been eating the soiled diapers and trash to survive.

Joshua Hall is in Southern Regional Jail under no bond.
