One Man Is Dead After A Car Accident In Fayette County

GAULEY BRIDGE (WOAY) – A Fayette County man died last night from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

At about 11:00 pm on Tuesday night, the Fayette County 911 Center dispatched a Sheriff’s Deputy along with Fire/EMS to a motor vehicle accident on WV Route 16/39 in Gauley Bridge. Upon arrival the Deputy found the driver lying in the roadway. The vehicle had run off of the roadway, then struck the embankment causing it to roll over multiple times. The driver, Charles Hagan (40 of Gauley Bridge), was ejected from the vehicle, and ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.

It is unclear at this time as to what caused the vehicle to run off of the road and strike the embankment. This accident remains under investigation by Deputy First Class L.A. Clay of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department. He was assisted on scene by the Gauley Bridge and Smithers Police Departments.
