One Man Air Lifted To The Hospital After A Vehicle Accident In Fayette County

SMITHERS, WV (WOAY) – A motor vehicle accident in Fayette County, results in one being flown to the hospital. Sheriff Mike Fridley released the following information regarding this incident.

The Fayette County 911 Center was notified of a motor vehicle accident this afternoon in Smithers. The vehicle was reportedly close to the train tracks alongside U.S. Route 60, causing the Kanawha Valley Railroad to shut down all train activity until the scene was cleared. The lone occupant of the vehicle claimed to have jumped out of the truck when he realized it was going to go over the embankment, after it failed to stop in a wide spot. The small produce trailer it was towing hit the driver as it passed by, forcing them both over the embankment. The adult driver was flown to Charleston Area Medical Center for treatment of trauma to the head and chest. The Montgomery and Smithers Fire Departments along with Jan Care and General Ambulance responded to the scene.
