UPDATE: Woman Shot In Raleigh County Early This Morning

DRY CREEK, WV (WOAY) – Raleigh County Deputies responded to a shooting early Friday morning.

According to the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office, a call came in around 3:30 am on Circle Drive in Dry Creek of an apparent shooting. The 911 caller said that a female had been shot and was outside of the residence. When deputies arrived on the scene, they discovered that an altercation had taken place between four adults inside the residence resulting in multiple shots being fired by one subject.

One woman was struck in the torso by one fired round.  Deputies and EMS arrived on scene and the victim was transported and later flown to Charleston for treatment.  The person responsible for the shooting is Jerry James Dickens.  Dickens was taken to the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office for questioning.

Another person, Carolyn Asbury was arrested at the scene on charges not dealing with the actual shooting incident but over trying to bite and hit deputies while they were investigating the shooting.

The incident remains under investigation and no charges have been filed over the shooting at this time.
