Official Children’s Choir of West Virginia announces 30th-anniversary campaign

CHARLESTON, WV (WOAY) — The Appalachian Children’s Chorus (ACC) is excited to celebrate its 30th anniversary! As part of this commemoration, we are launching our first peer-to-peer fundraiser via social media to raise $15,000 in the month of September. Stonerise Healthcare is graciously sponsoring the event and got us started with $5,000! We officially launched on September 1. Throughout the month, we have been sharing via social media (i.e. Instagram and Facebook) what has been accomplished through ACC since its inception in 1990. We are remembering one season each day this month.

“ACC is starting its 30th year in West Virginia where we have been able to positively impact over 3,700 children,” said Selina Midkiff, Founding and Artistic Director of the Appalachian Children’s Chorus. “In all these years, we have never turned away a child because of financial hardship, in fact, 100% of our choristers receive some sort of financial assistance. We continue to be deeply appreciative of the community who attends our events and supports us so generously.”

Even during the pandemic, ACC has a plan to continue virtually with all three choirs. The Canzona choir is for students in kindergarten through 2nd grade, Camerata is accepting more choristers in 3rd through 6th grade, and Concert Choir is for youth from 5th through 12th grade. Families who are interested to learn more can go to the ACC website at www.wvacc.org.

All proceeds from the 30th Anniversary Campaign will support ACC in its mission to provide artistic excellence, a quality music education, and extraordinary opportunities while creating a positive effect on the lives of West Virginia’s youth.
