Oak Hill Residents Can Vote To Name A Basketball Court And Trail

OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – Residents who live in Oak Hill have the chance to name a basketball court and trail.

Russell E Parks has been around since the 1940s. Many legends grew up and played on this court such as Marshall’s Hall of Famer Monty Wright, Cornelius Jackson the assistant coach of Marshall, and West Virginia Player Tracy Sheldon. NewsWatch Matt Bullock talked with the City Manager of Oak Hill to find out how are they going to restore the basketball court to its former glory.

“We are going to put new goals in, the courts before had four basketball goals and the courts were very narrow. Now we are going to make one court with new backboards and rims” said Bill Hannabass, City Manager of Oak Hill.

They are going to make a 3/4 mile paved trail and as wide as 10ft. The City of Oak Hill needs your help to create a name for the basketball court and the trail

“We need people to vote on the names because it’s important to be part of the community.”

The renovations will be complete before the end of the year. I’m Matt Bullock Newswatch.
