Oak Hill Police Is Gearing Up For Shop With A Cop

OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – Local police departments need your help as they aim to provide Christmas gifts to less fortunate children.

Every year the Oak Hill police department participates in the shop with a cop program, where officers take children in stores and allow them to pick out Christmas gifts. To continue making that kind of impact, the Oak Hill police department and other participating police departments are asking for monetary donations from the public.

“They are still children out there without some assistance that is not going to get maybe anything or very little for Christmas.  It gives officers different light on officers going out with the children and get to know the children and get to interact with children its something that gives children a little different situation maybe then what they are use to,” said Chief Whisman

We’re told more then 100 kids participate in the event next month.
