Oak Hill man found guilty of kidnapping and sexual assault of ex-girlfriend

FAYETTE CO., WV (NEWS RELEASE) – Fayette County Prosecuting Attorney, Larry E. Harrah, II, announces that on August 24, 2017, Jamie R. Criser, of Oak Hill, was convicted following a two-day trial of kidnaping and second degree sexual assault.

The evidence at trial showed that on March 11, 2016, Criser contacted a former girlfriend and requested a ride.  After she picked up the defendant, in the area of Allman Street, near Oak Hill, he sexually assaulted her after he held her against her will until she had sex with him. He repeatedly threatened to harm or kill her if she refused.

Sentencing is scheduled for October 11, 2017. Criser faces a minimum of twenty (20) to fifty (50)  years for kidnaping and ten (10) to twenty (20) years for sexual assault.

This crime was investigated by Detectives Sizemore and Pack of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department and was prosecuted by Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Brian Parsons and Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Elizabeth Campbell.
