Oak Hill Doctor Arrested After Slashing Wife With A 14″ Saber

PROSPERITY, WV (WOAY) –  An Oak Hill doctor is facing charges of malicious wounding and brandishing a deadly weapon.

According to court documents, Dr. Mohammad Anwar Ullah, 75, was arrested on a Sunday, May 6, 2018, after he cut his wife on the right hand with a short saber, 14-16 inches in length, that was inside a walking cane.  His wife states that they had been arguing for several days and for past several years the defendant had been extremely cruel and threatening to her, treating her like the Taliban treat women.  The wife says that her husband refused to let her leave the house and accused her of having affairs.

The wife goes on to say that the doctor was suffering from anger issues and taking his frustrations out on her after he refused to take his medicine.

Dr. Ullah attempted to flee the residence after deputies were called to the scene.  Deputies obtained a handgun in his pick-up truck.

Dr. Ullah admitted to deputies he grabbed the saber and slashed his wife and grabbed the handgun to flee the scene.

Dr. Ullah is out on a 25,000 bond.
