OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – The city of Oak Hill hosted their annual Christmas parade in downtown. Many families came out Thursday night to join in the merry. There was a variety of parade goers from local churches, and fire departments, to the big man himself Santa Clause.
The parade concluded at the Oak Hill Rail Trail where a festive event took place. There was free cocoa and food, gifts for the kids, and joyous fun. While the city hosted this, there were many people involved in making it happen.
“Damita Johnson, who is the most amazing city manager and Debbie and Jim Holly, they have donated all of this stuff and went around and asked local businesses to help the community,” explained Jacqui Gill, City of Oak Hill. “Everything here tonight was free and Tracy and Charlie Webb, glady rented this out for us, gave it to us for this event, which is amazing. And we really appreciate all they do for the community.”
Many kids waited in line to meet Saint Nick and tell him what they hoped to see under the tree.
“I want a Snoopy Stanley cup,” said Gillian.
“I want a guitar,” said Harlowe.
Everyone in attendance had a jolly old time and are excited for Santa’s awesome flight.
“Christmas is the awesomest thing I ever saw I love it so much,” said Paisley. “Merry Christmas!”
