Northbound Traffic on I-77 Bluefield to Princeton Project will Switch to Fast Lane on Tuesday

BLUEFIELD, WV (WOAY) – The West Virginia Division of Highways announces that beginning Tuesday, June 12, traffic on the northbound side of I-77 between Bluefield and Princeton will be switched to the fast lane as the contractor continues its rehabilitation and reconstruction of that 9-mile work zone area.  Southbound (SB) traffic remains unaffected.

Truck traffic will continue to be required to detour off Exit 1 onto US52 then circle around US460 to get back on I-77 in Princeton (Exit 9). This first phase work will take place from dawn to dusk.

For safety reasons, traffic controls will remain in place when crews aren’t working. Work is scheduled to continue until the last week of June, at which time both northbound lanes will open to traffic for July 4 travel.

The speed limit in that 9-mile work zone area continues to be 55 mph and law enforcement partners will continue to monitor both the interstate as well as the detour.
