Nicholas County Man Arrested After Police Find Two Children Living In Deplorable Conditions

SUMMERSVILLE, WV (WOAY) – A Nicholas County man is in jail facing child neglect charges after deputies found extremely deplorable living conditions.

According to a criminal complaint, Steven Dewayne Register, 27, of Summersville was arrested on Monday, September 17, 2018.   On September 7, 2018, Register allegedly grossly neglected his children ages 7 and 3 by having them in a home with extremely deplorable conditions.

The home had household garbage strung through it with dog feces and dirty clothes all over the home.

There were insects all through the home and the home had a very foul odor all through it.

Register is charged with child neglect creating the risk of serious bodily injury. He is currently being held in the Central Regional Jail under a 2,500 dollar bond.
