Fayetteville, WV (WOAY)- Prepare for serious whitewater action at the New River Gorge Gauntlet Kayak and Raft Race!
This race hits the rapids this Sunday, May 25, and it’s not for the faint of heart.
Set in the heart of the gorge, the gauntlet challenges kayakers and rafters alike to brave class III to class V rapids and navigate some of the country’s most rugged waters.
Competitors of all levels are welcome to join, and check-in will run from 10:00 am to noon Ace Adventure Gear.
A shuttle from the Fayette Station Upper Parking lot will transport participants to Cunard at 12:30 p.m.
Advanced registration fees are $35, and the day of the race fee is $50 for individual rafters.
Raft team registration prices will range from $70 to $140.
The race will begin at 2:00 p.m. and the awards ceremony will follow at 5:00 p.m.
If you’re not racing, you can head to Fayette Station to cheer on the paddlers as they push through to the finish.
The New River Gorge gauntlet promises high-energy competition, community spirit, and non-stop action.
