New bill could have schools offering an elective on the Bible

CHARLESTON, WV (BY: MATT SAMPLES, — A bill proposed by the state legislature could require the school system to offer an elective course on the Bible.

Senate Bill 252 was submitted on Thursday by Sen. Mike Azinger, R-Wood, and Sen. Sue Cline, R-Wyoming.

The bill says that the purpose of the class would be to  “Teach students knowledge of biblical content, characters, poetry, and narratives that are prerequisites to understanding contemporary society and culture, including literature, art, music, mores, oratory, and public policy.”
