BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – This week marks the start of National Farmers Market Week, a time to celebrate and support local farmers.
Farmers markets are a great way to maintain a healthy lifestyle while supporting local business in your community. At the Beckley Intermodal Gateway for instance, local farmers sell their produce weekly.
Jill Moorefield with Beckley Events says the markets are especially important for keeping local business afloat, especially right now during the pandemic.
“This is National Farmers Market Week. It’s an annual celebration that highlights the important role farmers play in the nation’s food system. And it’s more important than ever for markets to do their part to bring people together safely and offer healthy food.”
The Farmer’s Market at the Beckley Intermodal Gateway sets up on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 3 P.M. to 5 P.M.
