Mt. Olive inmate pleads guilty to killing other prisoner with shank

FAYETTE CO., WV (NEWS RELEASE) – Prosecuting Attorney, Larry E. Harrah, II announces that Timothy R. Parsons, an inmate at the Mount Olive Correctional Facility, entered a guilty plea to second-degree murder on July 12, 2017 in Fayette County Circuit Court. Sentencing is scheduled for September 7, 2017. Parsons faces a prison term of ten (10) to forty (40) years.

On January 22, 2017, Parsons used a manufactured knife to stab fellow inmate Eugene Anderson to death. Parsons was serving two life sentences without mercy for the murder of his wife and mother-in-law in Boone County in 2012. Anderson was serving lengthy sentences for child sex and pornography offenses.  The motive for the crime appeared to be retaliation for long-standing disagreements between the two, and allegedly, Anderson had paid another inmate to harm Parsons.

This crime was investigated by officials at the Mount Olive Correctional Complex and the West Virginia State Police.
