MSNBC Cancels Sanders Event in McDowell County

WLECH– MSNBC has announced the cancellation of a town hall meeting with former presidential candidate U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, D-Vt., which was scheduled for Monday morning at the Welch National Guard Armory.

Sanders, a former candidate for president, was to speak at the armory for an MSNBC special “All In with Chris Hayes” event. People in the McDowell County area were invited to share their ideas and concerns. However, Coordinating Producer Susan Kroll with NBC News informed the¬†Bluefield Daily Telegraph¬†late Friday evening after the newspaper’s deadline that the town hall meeting had been canceled.

Kristen Osborne with MSNBC Media Relations said Saturday that the event would be rescheduled. The show was adjusting the date and location, but those details were not yet available. The show still plans to come to McDowell County
