Miners Sweep BlueSox With Thursday Win

Beckley, WV (WOAY) – The West Virginia Miners have now won five of six over the Butler BlueSox in the opening weeks of the 2018 Prospect League season, taking Thursday’s contest 6-3 in Beckley.

The Miners opened the scoring with runs in three of the first four innings, including a solo home run from Jonathan Pasillas. Butler would put together a rally in the seventh inning to trim the deficit to 4-3, but the hosts answered with two runs in the bottom of the frame.

Logan Roberts led the Miners on offense, batting 1-2 with two RBI, while Anthony Arias recorded five strikeouts in 5.2 innings on the mound. The Miners host Chillicothe at Epling Stadium on Friday, as part of a three-game series between the top two teams in the East Division.
